Pastoral Team
Pastor Karl and Trudy Doerner
Karl was born in Braubach, Germany, in 1946, and at the age of 4 was adopted into the Doerner family who were Seventh-day Adventists. In 1954 the Doerners immigrated to Michigan where Karl attended Adelphian Academy, graduating in May of 1965.
Karl then owned and operated a masonry business until he decided to return to school in 1980. He graduated with a BA degree in Religion from Southern Adventist University in 1983. Karl went on to earn a degree in Trust Certification from La Sierra University in California in 1993.
Although he felt the call to the ministry at age 12, Karl did not answer that call until 1980. After graduating, he was a lay-pastor for 1 year at the Ladd Springs SDA Church in Tennessee. He began pastoring full-time in 1984 when he accepted a call from the Georgia-Cumberland Conference to pastor two churches in Thomasville and Barwick, Georgia. Pastor Karl has served in various churches and conferences in Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas, and in July of 2006 came to pastor the Birmingham 1st Church. Karl and his wife Trudy have two children and two grandchildren.
Pastor Karl says, "My wife and I want to be where the Lord wants us; that is our main desire."
