This ministry combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt, providing tangible evidence of the many prayers lifted up in it's recipients behalf by the members of BFC. Our team sews the quilt, and we then invite people in our church family to tie a knot and say a prayer for the person receiving the gift of the quilt.  This ministry combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt. A ministry of encouragement and caring, it provides tangible evidence of the many prayers lifted up in it's recipients behalf by the members of BFC.

The quilts have been made for cancer patients, for adults and children facing surgery or involved in accidents, or facing personal crisis; for many reasons, but each for someone in special need of prayer.

"You don't have to have any quilting or sewing experience to be a part
of our ministry just a willing heart and willing hands.
We meet once a month on Sunday at the Church  from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Check our
Calendar for exact dates." - Charlotte Dyer, Ministry Leader

"Several ladies in the Birmingham First Church have a prayer quilt ministry. They made Brynna a quilt, and I took it to her last Sabbath. She was very excited and had a hard time waiting while we opened the box. I gave her the quilt and shared with her how the ladies made it and how someone prayed for her while each knot was tied. I then saw something very profound happen. Very tenderly, almost reverently, Brynna took the quilt in her little arms and sat on the couch with it. She inspected the quilt as a mother does a newborn baby. She looked at every part of it, often running her fingers over the prayer knots. After a while, she looked up and said, "Now that I have this, maybe I won't be so afraid to go to sleep at night." She has been very afraid to go to sleep ever since her father died in the middle of the night. The picture I'm sending is Brynna Sunday morning, back out on the couch with her previous prayer quilt. A special thank you to each for your prayers. It is a miracle she is alive and doing as we as she is." - Elder Mel Eisele

"The prayer blanket that I received from 1st Church means SO much to me!  That prayers were said as each knot was tied reminds me that so many people have lifted me up in prayer.

Though I am not a member at BFC, the fact that you reached out to me during my illness and took the time and effort to make such a beautiful quilt is very touching. I'm reminded of your love and prayers every time I use my quilt.  Thank you again the love you've shown me through this special gift."  - Jackie Rogers, Auburn, AL
